I’ve found my first wild orchid

I’ve found my first wild orchid…

… and it is a tiger orchid.

Nope, I am not kidding.  I have found my first wild orchid in Australia, meters from our home and it is a tiger orchid (Diuris sulphurea).

Then I found some more. This one shows area in which is grows and exactly what it looks like. It is actually quite hard to spot in amongst the dead grass and other litter around. It is such a slender plant and flower that when you do actually see it, you suddenly start to see many more of them., but these ones are not that tall. (Tiger orchid (Diuris sulphurea))

A better example and in some sunshine, but you don’t want to linger long. There is a huge ants nest on a couple of meters away and they were already active! Tiger orchid (Diuris sulphurea)
